However, square footage is only one pricing factor. Concrete condition, organic buildup, oil, irrigation rust, accessibility and connected flatwork can all affect the work involved.

How Spotless Measures Residential Driveways Remotely

We first locate the correct property using the customer-provided address. Available satellite or aerial imagery can often show the driveway layout clearly enough to estimate its dimensions. Publicly accessible property information can provide additional context when useful.

If the imagery does not clearly show an area, we may ask the homeowner for a photo or a little more information instead of automatically requiring an onsite estimate.

How to Measure a Straight Driveway Manually

If you want to calculate the area yourself, measure the driveway’s length and width in feet and multiply them together. A 50-foot-long driveway that averages 18 feet wide is approximately 900 square feet.

This works well for basic rectangular driveways.

How to Measure an Irregular Driveway

For L-shaped, widened or segmented driveways, divide the concrete into simple rectangles. Calculate each section separately, then add the square footage together.

For example, if the main driveway is 700 square feet and a parking extension is another 250 square feet, the combined area is approximately 950 square feet.

Are Sidewalks Included in the Driveway Measurement?

Not automatically. A driveway quote should define which concrete areas are included. Connected sidewalks, front walkways, curb sections and patios can be separate work areas.

When requesting a quote, simply tell us whether you want those areas included. This is one reason a clear scope matters more than knowing the driveway measurement yourself.

Does the Garage Apron Count?

If the apron is part of the concrete area being cleaned, it should be included in the work area. The same principle applies to parking extensions and other connected sections.

Does Driveway Size Determine the Entire Price?

No. Size is important, but the condition of the driveway can change the amount and type of work required. Ordinary organic buildup is different from petroleum stains, irrigation rust or paint.

Heavy Organic Growth Can Affect the Cleaning Process

For compatible concrete with algae and organic buildup, professional driveway cleaning may use an appropriate pre-treatment → surface cleaning → post-treatment process. Chemistry helps break down organic contamination so pressure does not have to do all the work.

Oil and Grease Are Different From Ordinary Dirt

Oil can penetrate porous concrete and may require degreasing chemistry, dwell time, agitation or hot water rather than simply increasing pressure. A driveway with substantial petroleum staining can require more work than another driveway of identical size.

Irrigation Rust Can Change the Scope

Orange irrigation staining typically requires specialty chemistry. If you know the driveway has rust staining, mention it when requesting the quote so the treatment can be considered separately.

Can Satellite Imagery Measure Every Driveway?

No. Tree cover, shadows, outdated imagery, covered parking, gates or recent property changes can make remote measurements less reliable. In those situations, Spotless may request current photos or additional details.

The goal is to obtain enough information to quote accurately without creating an unnecessary extra appointment.

Can Photos Help With Driveway Measurements?

Yes. Photos are particularly useful when part of the driveway is hidden in aerial imagery or when there are unusual stains. A wide photo can show layout and condition while close-ups can show oil, rust or other specialty contamination.
