Why Our Pressure-Washer Unloader Matters
One of the biggest differences between simply owning a pressure washer and understanding a professional pressure-washing system is knowing how pressure is controlled.
Many pressure washers are advertised primarily by their maximum PSI. That number tells you what the machine can potentially produce—it does not mean every surface should be cleaned at that pressure.
A properly configured professional machine can use an unloader valve as part of the system’s pressure regulation. The purpose is not to turn every job into a maximum-pressure cleaning job. It gives the operator another level of control over the system.
Maximum PSI Is a Capability—not a Cleaning Recommendation
A machine rated for 4,000 PSI does not mean vinyl siding, wood, stucco, pavers, painted surfaces, roof shingles, and concrete should all receive 4,000 PSI.

Why We Use a Pressure Gauge Instead of Guessing at PSI
An adjustable system is much more useful when the operator can actually see what the pressure is doing.
That is why our pressure-control setup includes pressure monitoring. It allows us to make informed adjustments instead of assuming that a particular throttle position, sound, or spray pattern equals a specific PSI.

Professional exterior cleaning is not a competition between pressure washing and soft washing. They are different tools and processes for different surfaces and contaminants.
Pressure Washing
Mechanical water force can be appropriate for durable exterior flatwork and other suitable surfaces when pressure, distance, nozzle, water flow, and technique are controlled.
Examples may include certain concrete surfaces, hardscape, and other durable materials after inspection.
Soft Washing
Soft washing relies much more heavily on appropriate cleaning chemistry and low mechanical pressure.
It is commonly used where aggressive pressure could damage siding, painted materials, roofing, or other sensitive exterior surfaces.

NO ONE-SIZE-FITS-ALL PSI CHART
Different Surfaces Require Different Cleaning Decisions
We intentionally do not publish a universal chart saying that every piece of vinyl, stucco, wood, concrete, brick, or paver should always be cleaned at one exact PSI.
That sounds convenient, but real properties are more complicated.
Vinyl Siding
Age, oxidation, attachment, seams, previous repairs, and organic growth all influence the cleaning method. Soft washing is often preferable to direct high pressure.
Stucco
Paint condition, cracks, previous repairs, texture, and substrate matter. Excessive force can etch coatings or worsen weak areas.
Concrete
New, old, decorative, sealed, weak, repaired, and fully cured concrete should not automatically be treated identically.
Wood
Species, grain condition, age, coating, rot, and weathering influence how much cleaning force the surface can tolerate.
Brick & Mortar
Older mortar, repointing, historic brick, cracks, and previous repairs need to be considered before aggressive pressure is used.
Pavers
Joint sand, surface coatings, color, condition, previous sealing, and staining all affect the cleaning process.

No single PSI number guarantees safety. Actual cleaning force is affected by the nozzle, distance from the surface, GPM, spray pattern, dwell time, surface condition, and operator technique in addition to system pressure.

Professional Equipment Also Requires Professional Safety
High-pressure cleaning equipment can cause serious injuries when handled incorrectly. That is another reason we do not treat pressure washers like oversized garden hoses.
OSHA identifies contact with high-pressure water streams and uncontrolled high-pressure hoses as recognized hazards and notes injuries including lacerations and serious tissue damage.

Why We Soft Wash Roofs Instead of Blasting Them With Pressure
A roof is one of the clearest examples of why knowing when not to use high pressure matters.

Why We Generally Prefer Water-Based Paver Sealers
Equipment knowledge is only part of exterior cleaning. Product selection matters too.
For many paver and concrete-sealing projects we prefer quality water-based systems because they can offer good protection while fitting the maintenance approach we want for the property.
However, it would be inaccurate to say that every solvent-based sealer always fails or that every water-based product is automatically superior.
Sealer performance depends on the specific product, substrate, preparation, moisture conditions, application rate, previous coatings, weather, and installation.
The Bigger Issue: Know What Is Already on the Pavers
Applying an incompatible product over an existing sealer or sealing a surface with trapped moisture can create expensive correction work. Before resealing, the existing coating and surface condition should be evaluated.
